DUTIES INCLUDE:
As an Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT), you will be an essential part of our service team, specializing in the on-site maintenance, repair, and inspection of fire apparatus and emergency vehicles at customer locations. Your expertise will ensure that fire departments and emergency response teams have reliable, fully functional vehicles that are ready to perform in critical situations. In addition to field service, you will also support fire apparatus maintenance and repair at our dealership, contributing to our commitment to excellence in emergency vehicle service.
To empower you in this role, we provide our technicians with fully equipped F-250 service trucks, outfitted with customized toolboxes, advanced diagnostic tools, and a comprehensive parts inventory, allowing for efficient and high-quality repairs. Our mobile service approach enables you to work in clean, climate-controlled fire halls, ensuring a comfortable and professional work environment while delivering top-tier service to our customers.
This position offers the opportunity to travel extensively across Ontario, visiting fire departments in various communities. · Perform diagnostic assessments, repairs, maintenance, and servicing of fire apparatus and emergency vehicles.
· Conduct comprehensive testing services, including pump testing, aerial ladder testing, and other operational verifications.
· Perform upfitting, modifications, and system updates as required by customers.
· Retrofit and install pumps, hydraulics, electrical systems, and other critical components to meet operational requirements.
· Ensure all work meets industry standards, manufacturer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
· Complete detailed service reports and documentation to maintain accurate records of all repairs and maintenance performed.
· Provide exceptional customer service and technical support, ensuring fire departments receive the best possible care for their emergency vehicles.
· Adhere to all safety protocols, quality control measures, and company policies while working on-site and in the dealership.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Valid 310T Truck & Coach Technician License is required for this position. Please note that we are not accepting apprentices at this time.
· Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certification is considered a strong asset; however, we are willing to provide training for the right candidate to obtain certification.
· Previous experience in diagnosing, servicing, and testing fire apparatus (including pumps, valves, monitors, and related components) is highly beneficial. Experience working with Class 8 trucks, heavy-duty vehicles, or coach buses is also considered an asset.
· Strong technical expertise in electrical systems, diagnostics, and hydraulic systems is essential for success in this role. The ability to troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and electronic systems efficiently is required.
· DZ driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe is required.
· Industry knowledge and relationship-building skills: A solid understanding of the fire service industry, as well as the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with Fire Chiefs, Deputy Chiefs, and Maintenance Departments, is a key aspect of this role.
· Exceptional attention to detail, reliability, and punctuality are essential traits. The ideal candidate will take pride in their work and demonstrate a high level of professionalism and accountability.
· Commitment to safety: Strict adherence to workplace safety protocols, 1200 Degrees Ontario’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and the specific safety requirements of the fire halls and facilities you service is mandatory.
